Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (abbreviated as PES 2010) is an upcoming football video game in the Pro Evolution Soccer series developed and published by Konami for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii and Xbox 360. The game was announced on 8 April 2009 and has a tentative release date of 23 October 2009; but, according to retailers, it is set for an 2 October release, the same day as the expected release for EA Sports' title FIFA 10. However, rumours are circulating that the game will be released early this year, possibly in September. On 11 August, Amazon.com put the game up for pre-order, station that customers will recieve it on 16 October. It was also announced that the Wii version will be released around the same time.

Lionel Messi will be a key endorsement player for the game. He will feature throughout the promotion and development of the game and is set to feature on the cover, alongside Fernando Torres, another PES endorsement player.

Features

  • Improved visuals, animations and moves with a major update including live player expressions and movements that will change according to conditions on the field. Animations of dribbling and shots on goal, as well as individual skills, have all been reworked to make it the most realistic release ever.
  • Realistic gameplay to constantly test the player, requiring the player to have both strategic play and quick reactions, just like real life, including more versatile goalkeepers, greater control over penalties in terms of placing and accuracy, and intuitive zonal defending.
  • Enhanced online experience: a new team is solely dedicated to improving online play and other aspects such as downloadable content, more updates, and the ability make the game more bespoke.
  • Improved AI thanks to Teamvision 2.0. Now midfielders and defenders will work together, getting rid of those soft goals and returning PES 2010 to its simulation roots. The player will also be able to move several players at once into any opening, resulting in a need for more strategic thinking. Referees have also been reworked to make more balanced calls during matches.
  • Strategy use: every element, from pass frequency to width of play, can be altered to match those of your favourite club giving the player ultimate control.
  • Match day atmosphere will be vamped up to give a better taste of home or and away crowds who will react spontaneously to all the action on the pitch.
  • Enhanced Master League will improve managerial aspects of the mode resulting in an increased managerial career lifespan.
  • 360-degree control will be available on both the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD versions of the game via the analogue sticks on the respective controllers. The system will allow players to spread the ball with ease, opening up new attacking and defensive possibilities. PLAYSTATION 3 owners will also benefit when using the Dual Shock’s D-Pad, but Xbox 360 and Win D-Pads are limited to eight-directional control due to technical limitations of the hardware.
