Ubisoft DRM servers down, fails legitimate customers

E-mail Print PDF
blah
Last time I discussed Ubisoft's controversial DRM, I talked about how much of a mockery it looked after the pirating group Skid-row, hacked Silent Hunter 5 a game employing the DRM scheme illegally and offline within just 25 hours. This time Ubisoft has landed itself in the laughing pit again, as European copies of Assassins Creed a singleplayer only game that employs the DRM scheme (and Silent Hunter 5) cannot be played as the Servers running the DRM seem to be down. High five Ubisoft, your DRM backfired, pirates can play the game but legitimate customers can't. The PC version of Splinter Cell Conviction will be superior no doubt

Electronic Arts' official Bad Company 2 forums and various others have been filled with complaints by disappointed Xbox 360 gamers. According to the reports, players have without any notice lost their hard earned weapons, stats and unlocks.

EA has not yet addressed this issue but apperently are aware of it and working on it. There have been no reports of this problem occuring on the Playstation 3 or PC. Only the Xbox 360 is affected.

In addition to the lost stats, users are also saying they are unable to join games. The following error is displayed "Cannot connect to EA servers."

YourEMGN will keep you updated on this issue.
